BEFORE THE FIRST TRAY

A digital plan.
A clinical decision.

Invisalign uses a sequence of custom clear trays. Before ordering them, review what the proposed course aims to change, what it cannot address, and whether other care is needed first.

01

Assess your starting point

Examine your teeth, gums, restorations, and bite. Appropriate records and digital imaging support the treatment decision.

02

Discuss the movements

Review the proposed digital plan, attachments, any additional procedures, and the estimated stages. A simulation illustrates a plan; it does not guarantee an outcome.

03

Agree on the course

Understand alternatives, responsibilities, expected appointments, the written estimate, and retention before deciding to begin.

GROWING SMILES & FAMILY ROUTINES

Invisalign for teens
and children.

Age is one part of the decision. Developing teeth, jaw growth, the bite, and the ability to follow a wear routine help determine whether aligners, braces, monitoring, or specialist care are appropriate.

For teens

Invisalign can be an option for suitable teenage patients. Planning considers teeth that are still developing, bite correction, oral health, and any attachments or elastics needed.

School lunches, sports, cleaning, and safe tray storage all belong in the conversation. Parents can help with reminders and appointments, while the teen needs to follow the prescribed wear schedule.

Teenager with clear aligners

For younger children

Having baby teeth does not automatically rule out an orthodontic assessment. Invisalign First is designed for selected growing children, typically ages 6–10, with a mix of baby and permanent teeth.

It is a different treatment approach from a teen or adult plan. An assessment may lead to monitoring, early treatment, or specialist referral. Early treatment does not necessarily replace later orthodontic care.

MORE THAN CLEAR TRAYS

Small features.
Specific purposes.

The trays may need additional features to deliver the prescribed movement. Ask which ones your plan includes and how they affect appearance, cleaning, and daily wear.

Tooth-colored attachments

Composite shapes bonded to selected teeth give aligners additional contact for movement. Their placement is individual, and they can remain noticeable even when the trays are removed.

Elastics, when prescribed

Some bite corrections use elastics with the aligners. Fitting includes instructions on where to place them and when to wear them.

Space for planned movement

Selected cases may involve interproximal reduction: carefully planned enamel reduction between teeth. Discuss the reason, extent, and alternatives before agreeing.

FITTING & INSTRUCTIONS

Leave knowing
how to use your trays.

Your fitting is a chance to practice inserting and removing the aligners and understand the schedule prescribed for you.

  • Check how the trays seat around your teeth.
  • Confirm the wear and tray-change schedule.
  • Learn how to handle attachments or elastics.
  • Know how to contact the team about fit or damage.

REVIEWS & REFINEMENTS

Check the response.
Adjust the next step.

Your teeth may not follow every planned movement exactly. Progress reviews help determine whether to continue, adjust the schedule, or obtain further records and aligners.

Keep the correct sequence

Use each set as prescribed. Tell the team about persistent gaps, poor fit, or missed wear instead of moving ahead on your own.

Allow for additional stages

Refinement trays can fine-tune the course after reassessment. Ask what is included and whether extra stages affect the timeline or cost.

Plan the finish

The final review considers tooth position and the bite. Retainers and an ongoing wear plan help maintain alignment after active treatment.

MAKE THE ROUTINE WORK

Meals, cleaning,
and the next set.

Remove trays for food and drinks other than plain water as instructed. Brush and floss before replacing them, and use the recommended method to clean the aligners.

Store them in their case rather than a napkin. Keep previous sets available and contact the studio about a lost, damaged, or poorly fitting tray.

Keep routine dental examinations and hygiene visits alongside your Invisalign reviews.

THE DETAILS OF YOUR COURSE

Your Invisalign
questions.

Bring these questions to your consultation and fitting. Your instructions should reflect your individual plan.

What happens at an Invisalign consultation?

Discuss the changes you want, your dental history, and any previous orthodontic treatment. The examination and appropriate records help Dr. Lebovich assess suitability before proposing a course of treatment.

Is the digital preview a guarantee of my final smile?

No. A digital plan helps explain the intended tooth movements. Teeth need to respond to treatment, and the plan may need adjustment as progress is reviewed.

What are Invisalign attachments?

Small tooth-colored composite shapes may be bonded to selected teeth to help the trays guide movement. Their number and position depend on the plan. Some may be visible, particularly on front teeth.

Will I need elastics or space between teeth?

Some plans include elastics or carefully planned removal of small amounts of enamel between selected teeth. Ask whether either is proposed, why it is needed, and what alternatives exist before consenting.

How often do I change my Invisalign trays?

Follow the schedule prescribed for your case. Do not move to the next set early because a tray feels comfortable. The team may adjust the interval after checking how your teeth are responding.

What if an aligner does not seat properly?

Contact the treating team if a tray will not seat, feels markedly different, or develops a persistent gap around a tooth. Ask for instructions before skipping ahead or changing the sequence.

What if I lose a tray or an attachment comes off?

Contact the studio promptly and keep your previous trays available. The appropriate next step depends on the stage of treatment; do not choose a replacement sequence yourself.

Can I drink coffee with Invisalign in?

Remove the trays for drinks other than plain water, following the directions given at fitting. Hot drinks can affect the appliance, and colored or sugary drinks can create cleaning problems.

How should I clean my trays?

Follow the supplied cleaning instructions. Use lukewarm water and a soft brush with the recommended cleaning method. Avoid hot water and abrasive products, and keep the trays in their case when removed.

What are refinements?

Refinements are additional aligners used when further adjustment is needed after reviewing progress. Ask how additional records, trays, appointments, and any limits are handled in your estimate.

Does the Invisalign fee include retainers?

Inclusions vary. Ask specifically about retainers, replacement trays, additional stages, appointments, and any other procedures. Get the full scope and expected out-of-pocket cost in writing.

When does active Invisalign treatment finish?

Finishing involves checking the tooth positions and bite, rather than simply reaching the last numbered tray. The team will explain whether further adjustment is needed and arrange your retention plan.

Can teenagers have Invisalign treatment?

Yes, Invisalign can be suitable for some teenagers. Developing teeth, the bite, oral health, and the ability to follow the prescribed wear schedule all need assessment. Discuss parental support, school routines, and who will provide treatment.

Can a child have Invisalign while they still have baby teeth?

Some growing children may be candidates for Invisalign First, which is designed for mixed baby and permanent teeth. Suitability and timing need an assessment. Ask our team which treatments for younger children are available and whether specialist referral is appropriate; early care may be followed by another treatment phase.
