THE RIGHT CARE FOR YOUR GUMS
Routine cleaning, deep cleaning,
and periodontal maintenance.
These are different types of care. An examination determines which is appropriate; bleeding or tartar alone does not tell you which treatment you need.
Routine cleaning
Removes plaque, tartar, and some surface stains to help maintain oral health. It is not a substitute for treatment of periodontitis.
Scaling & root planing
Often called a deep cleaning, this treats deposits on tooth and root surfaces beneath the gums when periodontal disease is diagnosed. It may involve local anesthesia and more than one visit.
Periodontal maintenance
After periodontal treatment, ongoing visits help manage the condition and monitor your gums. The schedule depends on your needs and may be more frequent than routine recall.
Gum inflammation without periodontitis may need a different cleaning approach. We’ll explain the findings and recommended care.

Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and clean between your teeth daily. Keep regular dental visits even when nothing hurts.

How often should I have a cleaning and exam?
Your dentist recommends an interval based on your oral health and risk of disease. Six months is a common schedule, but it is not right for everyone. People who have had periodontal treatment may need more frequent maintenance.
Do I need X-rays at every appointment?
No. X-rays are recommended when they are needed for diagnosis, based on your history, examination, symptoms, and risk. Tell us if you have recent images from another dentist.
Does a cleaning hurt?
Sensitivity or inflamed gums can make a cleaning uncomfortable. Tell the team about sensitive areas or dental anxiety so you can discuss comfort options. Scaling and root planing may require local anesthesia.
Will I get a cleaning at my first visit?
The examination helps determine which type of care is appropriate. Ask the team when booking whether cleaning can be scheduled at that visit. Periodontal treatment may require a separate appointment.
Does the $59 new-patient offer include cleaning?
No. The offer is for a complete exam, digital X-rays, and an oral cancer screening for new, uninsured patients. Cleaning is not included. Ask about cleaning costs after your needs are assessed.
Will insurance cover my visit?
Coverage, limits, and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan and type of treatment. Contact our team with your plan details before your appointment. We cannot promise coverage without checking your benefits.
What if my gums bleed or a tooth hurts?
Contact the office rather than waiting for your next routine checkup. Let the team know about your symptoms when you call so they can help arrange an appropriate evaluation.
